Now that you have circulated for the ICM programme, let me introduce you to what ICM coaching is about!
ICM includes a mix of workplace coaching and personal coaching, using various approaches to create a NEW YOU who will create impact. Before proceeding, it is important for you to briefly understand what types of coaching exist, so you know what type of coaching you have signed up for, for you to better manage your goals and expectations in your ICM sessions.
First of all, there are various main types of coaching in the professional life,
- Team Coaching
- Peer Coaching
- Executive Coaching
You may also come across virtual coaching, which is simply a format of delivery, rather than a coaching category itself.
Some people categorise workplace coaching differently, they are simply fancy words to different audiences. At the core, workplace coaching resolves around personal-level coaching which can be differentiated into many more coaching types:
- Performance Coaching
- Developmental Coaching
- Transformational Coaching
- Life Coaching
You must be wondering why I have categorised developmental coaching as personal-level coaching rather than workplace coaching. That’s very simple, you need to work on yourself as an individual first, before you can work on yourself as part of a team/organisation.
These in turn use various coaching methods:
- Vision setting
- Transactional coaching is results-driven, concentrating on setting clear goals, defining performance metrics, and achieving measurable outcomes
- Holistic coaching
During your ICM sessions, you will notice that there will be times where we will use:
bureaucratic approaches, laissez-faire approaches, and holistic approaches. Although I am not a trained health or relationship coach, we will briefly cover health, sleep patterns, relationship and other sectors of your life that may affect your performance both at a personal level and at your workplace.

Executive coaching
Executive coaching is all about helping senior leaders and executives develop their skills and reach their goals. As an executive coach, I work one-on-one with leaders to identify their areas for improvement, set goals, and to develop a plan of action. Executive coaching is indispensable for all leaders; whilst it includes career coaching, it is much more than that. In fact, executive coaching involves supporting and guiding leaders along the way, helping the leaders to navigate challenges and make tough decisions.
Why you need executive coaching?
In a work environment where layoffs are more frequent and the market more competitive, leaders need executive coaches to gain valuable insights and guidance.
Benefits of Executive Coaching
There are many benefits to executive coaching. Leaders who receive coaching often report increased confidence, better decision-making skills and improved relationships with their teams.
perfrmance – change management – leadership – career coaching – coaching derailed employees – transitional coaching
- Goal-oriented Coaching – the leader helps individuals work towards a measurable, mutually agreed-upon milestone in their professional development.
- Cognitive Coaching – refining an employee’s critical thinking processes to adjust their mindset and problem-solving approaches.
- Integrated Coaching – takes a holistic approach, helping employees improve their performance by addressing factors such as mental and emotional well-being, personal behaviors, and work-life balance. It is also often called the humanist approach.
- Executive Coaching – an advanced approach for leaders to increase their capacity to drive organizational change and professional advancement.
Performance coaching
This type of coaching is focused on helping employees improve their performance and reach their full potential. A performance coach will work with an individual or team to identify areas for improvement, set goals and develop a plan to achieve those goals.
Performance coaching can lead to increased productivity, better communication skills and higher levels of engagement and job satisfaction.
Team coaching
Team coaching is another popular type of workplace coaching. As the name suggests, this type of coaching is all about helping teams work together more effectively. A team coach will work with a group of employees to identify strengths and weaknesses, set goals and develop a plan to achieve those goals. They’ll facilitate discussions and activities designed to improve communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills between team members.
Virtual coaching
With more and more teams working remotely, virtual coaching has become an increasingly popular option. Virtual coaching involves working with a coach remotely, typically via video conferencing or phone calls. This type of coaching can be used for any of the above coaching types — executive coaching, performance coaching or team coaching.
The benefits of virtual coaching include increased flexibility and convenience, as well as the ability to work with a coach from anywhere in the world.
